NYY-Jケーブル is a copper-conductor power cable with PVC insulation and a PVC outer sheath. It is designed for fixed low-voltage distribution in buildings, 産業施設, utility systems, cable ducts and underground routes.
The J suffix identifies a green/yellow protective conductor within the cable. NYY-O is the related version without a green/yellow protective conductor. Black PVC sheathing provides a durable finish for general indoor, outdoor and buried fixed installations.

NYY-J Cable Applications
NYY-J cable is used for fixed power distribution where a conventional PVC-insulated and PVC-sheathed cable matches the installation environment.
- Commercial and residential building feeders.
- 産業プラント, workshops and utility rooms.
- Distribution boards and fixed equipment connections.
- Cable ducts, conduits and protected outdoor routes.
- Underground power distribution with suitable route protection.
NYY-J is unarmoured. Routes exposed to impact, crushing or excavation damage use ducts, covers or a separate armoured cable construction.
NYY-J vs NYY-O and N2XY Cable
NYY-J and NYY-O share the same PVC-insulated, PVC-sheathed construction. The suffix identifies whether a green/yellow protective conductor is included.
| 特徴 | NYY-J | NYY-O | N2XY |
|---|---|---|---|
| 絶縁 | PVC | PVC | XLPE |
| Outer sheath | PVC | PVC | PVC |
| Protective conductor | Included | Not included | J or O versions |
| Normal conductor temperature | 70℃ | 70℃ | 90℃ |
| Main distinction | Green/yellow PE core | No green/yellow PE core | Higher-temperature XLPE insulation |
N2XY is the related XLPE-insulated alternative. Its common 90°C conductor rating differs from the 70°C PVC-insulated NYY construction.
NYY-J Cable Performance and Installation
PVC insulation and sheathing provide a practical cable construction for general low-voltage distribution. Current-carrying capacity varies with conductor size, core loading, ambient temperature, grouping and installation method.
The black outer sheath is commonly used for outdoor and underground routes. Environmental performance, bending radius and pulling force are defined by the finished cable construction.
NYY-J is not an armoured or LSZH cable. Mechanical protection and fire-performance requirements can lead to a different cable design, such as an armoured power cable or a halogen-free model.
NYY-J Cable Technical FAQs
What does NYY-J Cable mean?
In the VDE-style designation, N identifies a cable made to a recognized national standard, the first Y indicates PVC insulation, the second Y indicates a PVC outer sheath, and J indicates that the cable includes a green/yellow protective conductor.
What is NYY-J Cable used for?
NYY-J is used for fixed low-voltage distribution in buildings, 産業施設, utility systems, cable ducts and underground routes. It is not designed for continuous movement or portable equipment.
What are the main NYY-J Cable specifications?
NYY-J is commonly specified for 0.6/1 kV service with copper Class 1 またはクラス 2 導体, PVC絶縁, PVC filling or inner covering, and a black PVC outer sheath. Normal conductor temperature is commonly 70°C. Referenced standards include VDE 0276-603 / HD 603, IEC 60502-1 およびIEC 60228.
Which NYY-J Cable core counts and sizes are covered?
The recommended tables cover 2-core, 3-コア, 4-core and 5-core NYY-J constructions. The stated core count includes the green/yellow protective conductor. Covered reference ranges are 2 × 2.5 に 2 × 16 mm², 3 × 1.5 に 3 × 95 mm², 4 × 1.5 に 4 × 240 mm², そして 5 × 1.5 に 5 × 25 mm².
What is the current carrying capacity of NYY-J Cable?
NYY-J current carrying capacity changes with cross-section, core count and installation method. In the recommended table, 3 × 1.5 mm² is rated at 26 A in duct and 18 A in air, その間 4 × 240 mm² is rated at 464 A in duct and 436 A in air. These reference values use 30°C ambient air, 15°C ground temperature, 0.5 m laying depth and 1.2 K m/W soil thermal resistivity; other conditions require correction factors or a separate calculation.
Can NYY-J Cable be used outside or buried underground?
NYY-J is used in fixed outdoor and underground installations where the cable specification and local installation rules permit. Its PVC sheath suits general environmental exposure, but the cable is unarmoured. Ducts, covers or other mechanical protection are used where impact, crushing or excavation damage is possible.
What is the difference between NYY-J and NYY-O Cable?
NYY-J includes a green/yellow protective conductor. NYY-O has no green/yellow protective conductor. The conductor, PVC insulation and PVC sheath construction are otherwise generally comparable within the same specification.
What is the difference between NYY-J and NYM-J Cable?
NYY-J is a 0.6/1 kV PVC-insulated, PVC-sheathed power cable commonly used for fixed indoor, outdoor and underground distribution. NYM-J is generally a 300/500 V building installation cable for fixed wiring in or around plaster, masonry and similar building routes. NYM-J outdoor and underground suitability is more restricted and depends on its exact product specification.

N2XOH ケーブル
Halogen-free low-smoke power cable for fixed building and infrastructure installations.

低電圧ケーブル
Low-voltage cable constructions for building, industrial and utility distribution.
