NA2XSY Cable Technical Data
Recommended Reference Data: NA2XSY is normally a single-core screened medium-voltage cable. The size format below is conductor cross-section / copper screen cross-section in mm2.
Ampacity values are reference values for one single-core circuit in air at 30°C or in ground at 20°C. Final project current rating depends on soil thermal resistivity, profondità di sepoltura, spacing, raggruppamento, sheath bonding, route temperature and local calculation method. Final XWA manufacturing dimensions and test values follow the approved quotation datasheet.

NA2XSY Cable Construction
NA2XSY is built around a stranded aluminium conductor with an extruded conductor screen, XLPE insulation and an insulation screen applied as part of the medium-voltage insulation system. A copper wire screen and counter helix provide the metallic screen path, followed by a PVC outer sheath.
The single-core construction is important. Current rating, screen bonding, induced sheath voltage, bending radius and termination design are evaluated differently from three-core MV cable. Where a tender requires a three-core screened cable, N2XSEY or another three-core designation may be the better match.
The copper screen section, commonly shown as the second number in a size such as 1 X 240/25 mm2, is selected according to earth-fault current and protection design. It is not decorative and must match the fault-current requirement of the system.
Applications for NA2XSY Medium Voltage Cable
NA2XSY cable is used in medium-voltage distribution networks where a screened single-core cable with PVC sheath is accepted by the project specification. Common routes include transformer stations, switching stations, power plants, industrial feeders, renewable-energy collection networks and utility distribution circuits.
The cable can be installed indoors, outdoors, in ducts and in ground routes when the installation design accounts for mechanical protection, tirando la tensione, raggio di curvatura, route temperature and current rating. The PVC sheath gives a practical outer covering for many fixed installations, but route protection remains part of the cable system design.
For direct sunlight exposure, local standards and sheath performance requirements must be checked. For tunnels, public buildings or routes requiring low smoke and halogen-free performance, an LSZH medium-voltage cable can be a more suitable design than NA2XSY.
NA2XSY vs N2XSY, N2XS2Y and N2XSEY
N2XSY and NA2XSY share the same basic screened MV cable logic, but the conductor material is different. N2XSY uses copper; NA2XSY uses aluminium. Copper gives a smaller conductor size for the same resistance, while aluminium can reduce conductor cost and cable weight where larger cross-sections and compatible terminations are acceptable.
NA2XSY and N2XS2Y differ mainly in sheath material. NA2XSY uses PVC sheath, while N2XS2Y uses PE sheath. PE sheath can be preferred for some underground routes because of moisture and abrasion resistance, while PVC may be selected where flame behaviour, handling or project convention points to PVC.
N2XSEY is commonly associated with three-core medium-voltage construction. It should not be treated as the same product as single-core NA2XSY. The correct model depends on circuit design, installation route, magnetic effects, screen bonding method and termination arrangement.
| Modello | Main distinction | Typical page role |
|---|---|---|
| N2XSY | Conduttore in rame, Isolamento XLPE, schermo in filo di rame, PVC sheath | Copper companion page |
| NA2XSY | Conduttore in alluminio, Isolamento XLPE, schermo in filo di rame, PVC sheath | This page |
| N2XS2Y | Copper conductor version with PE sheath | Underground-route comparison |
| N2XSEY | Three-core screened MV construction | Separate three-core intent |
Test, Documents and Export Packing
NA2XSY production documentation can include the approved datasheet, conductor resistance checks, voltage test records, partial-discharge test records, dimensional inspection, drum schedule, packing list and product photos. Type tests, flame-test evidence or third-party inspection are added only when required by the project and available for the exact construction.
Export packing is normally planned by cable weight, lunghezza del tamburo, maximum drum diameter, route handling and container loading. Medium-voltage single-core cable can become heavy at large cross-sections, so drum length is part of the technical and logistics review, not only a shipping preference.
For quotation, XWA needs the model designation, voltage class, dimensione del conduttore, copper screen section, installation route, standard, quantità, preferred drum length, destination country and required documents. The information is used to confirm the cable configuration and issue a project-specific offer.
NA2XSY Cable FAQs
What is NA2XSY Cable?
NA2XSY Cable is a screened single-core medium-voltage power cable with an aluminium conductor, Isolamento XLPE, copper wire screen and PVC outer sheath. It is used for fixed MV distribution routes in utility, substation, industrial and generation systems.
What voltage classes are common for NA2XSY Cable?
Common NA2XSY voltage classes include 6/10 kV, 8.7/15 kV, 12/20 kV and 18/30 kV. The project cable schedule defines the required Uo/U voltage class and test-voltage requirement.
What is the construction of NA2XSY Cable?
The typical construction is Class 2 stranded aluminium conductor, schermo conduttore, Isolamento XLPE, schermo isolante, copper wire metallic screen with counter helix and PVC outer sheath. The screen section and sheath colour are specified by the project.
Is NA2XSY a single-core or three-core cable?
NA2XSY is normally a single-core medium-voltage cable. Three-core MV requirements should be checked separately because the cable design, screen arrangement, bending radius and accessories are different.
What does 1 X 240/25 mean in NA2XSY Cable?
In a size such as 1 X 240/25 mm2, 240 mm2 is the aluminium conductor cross-section and 25 mm2 is the copper screen cross-section. The screen value must match the earth-fault duty and protection design.
Where is NA2XSY Cable used?
NA2XSY is used in transformer stations, switching stations, power plants, industrial distribution networks, renewable-energy collection circuits, cable ducts and underground utility routes where PVC-sheathed MV cable is accepted.
What is the difference between NA2XSY and N2XSY?
NA2XSY uses an aluminium conductor. N2XSY uses a copper conductor with a similar screened XLPE/PVC construction. The choice affects conductor size, cable weight, termination design and commercial comparison.
What is the difference between NA2XSY and N2XS2Y?
NA2XSY uses a PVC outer sheath. N2XS2Y uses a PE outer sheath. PE sheath can be preferred for certain underground and moisture-exposed routes, while PVC sheath remains common for many fixed MV installations.
Can NA2XSY Cable be installed underground?
NA2XSY can be installed in ground routes when the cable design, route protection and local rules permit it. Current rating and service life depend on burial depth, soil thermal resistivity, spacing, raggruppamento, moisture and mechanical protection.
What information does XWA need to quote NA2XSY Cable?
For a project quotation, XWA needs the NA2XSY voltage class, dimensione del conduttore, copper screen section, standard, installation route, quantità, lunghezza del tamburo, destination country and required inspection or test documents.
