N2XSEY cable is a three-core medium-voltage power cable with stranded copper conductors, screened XLPE insulation and a common PVC outer sheath. Three phase cores form one assembled cable for fixed distribution.
The reference CU/XLPE/CTS/PVC construction uses metallic screening but no armour. The shared sheath distinguishes it from a circuit of three separate single-core cables and changes handling mass, cable-entry dimensions and installation geometry.

Three-core CU/XLPE/CTS/PVC, 12/20 kV. Mass and diameter describe the assembled cable. The /screen notation does not create a fourth phase core; the approved drawing defines the screen arrangement.
Reference ampacity: one system; air 30°C, fator de carga 1.0; ground 20°C, profundidade 0.7 eu, resistividade térmica 1.0 K·m/W, fator de carga 0.7. Reference conductor limit: 90°C. The buried ratings do not represent a continuously fully loaded circuit at load factor 1.0.
Three-core construction and accessory interfaces
A single overall sheath fixes the relative positions of the three phase cores. Three separate single-core cables permit a chosen flat or trefoil arrangement. Equal voltage and conductor area do not make their current-rating or handling data interchangeable.
Termination stress-control components fit the insulation diameter and screen treatment. Glands and entry seals fit the complete cable diameter. The 3×240/25 reference is approximately 85 mm in diameter and 13 kg/m, before drum tare; handling calculations therefore use assembly mass, not copper mass alone.
Applications and Installation Conditions
Distribuição industrial, substation connections and underground or ducted feeder sections can suit a combined three-core assembly. Pulling equipment, route access and bending limits must fit the complete cable. Armadura, water blocking and enhanced fire-performance sheaths require separately identified constructions rather than assumptions about the N2XSEY name.
The production definition must identify screen arrangement, insulation and sheath thicknesses, accessory diameters and applicable tests for the assembled three-core cable. The official standard scope concerns fixed distribution installations, not an automatic claim of approval for special service.

N2XSEY Cable FAQs
Does N2XSEY mean the cable is armoured?
Não. The reference screened construction is unarmoured. A metallic screen provides an electrical function and is not mechanical armour.
Can 12/20 kV dimensions be used for a 6/10 kV variant?
Não. The values here belong only to the stated 12/20 construção de kV. A different voltage design needs its own dimensional and rating data.
Is N2XSEY the same as three N2XSY cables?
Não. N2XSEY combines three phase cores within one sheath. Separate N2XSY cables have different assembly, handling and installation arrangements.
