RS485 Communication Cables standard 120Ω

APPLICATION

RS485 Communication Cables are designed for high-reliability differential serial data transmission, fully compliant with the TIA/EIA-485 electrical interface standard. They deliver stable long-distance communication with superior anti-interference performance, and are widely used in:
  • Industrial automation control systems (PLC, DCS, SCADA system networking)
  • Building automation & intelligent building control (BMS, access control, fire alarm systems)
  • Smart grid & power distribution automation equipment communication
  • Security & video surveillance system data transmission
  • Traffic signal & intelligent transportation system (ITS) networking
  • Renewable energy projects (solar, wind farm) field device communication
  • Petrochemical, metallurgy & mining field instrument and sensor data transmission
These cables can be installed in cable trays, buried in conduits, laid indoors/outdoors, or deployed in harsh industrial environments, with excellent resistance to electromagnetic interference, mechanical stress and environmental corrosion.

CONSTRUCTION

  • Conductor: Annealed Bare Copper / Tinned Copper, Class 1 (solid) / Class 5 (stranded) conductor, common sizes AWG24/22/20 (0.2mm²~0.5mm²)
  • Insulation: High-performance Cross-linked Polyethylene (XLPE) / Polyethylene (PE) / PVC insulation, ensuring stable dielectric properties and standard 120Ω characteristic impedance
  • Twisted Pair: Core wires twisted in pairs with precise lay length, to reduce crosstalk and ensure differential signal transmission stability
  • Drain Wire: Tinned copper drain wire for continuous and reliable grounding (for shielded structures)
  • Inner Shielding: Aluminum Foil Shielding (100% coverage) for all-round anti-electromagnetic interference protection
  • Total Shielding: Tinned Copper Braided Shielding (coverage ≥85%), for enhanced EMI/RFI resistance in harsh industrial environments
  • Inner Lining: Extruded polymer inner lining for core structure reinforcement and protection
  • Armour (optional): Steel Tape Armour (STA) / Steel Wire Armour (SWA) for mechanical damage protection, suitable for direct burial and harsh outdoor scenarios
  • Outer Sheath: High-quality PVC / LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) / PE / PUR sheath, customizable for different environmental requirements
  • Core Identification: Color-coded core pairs for easy on-site installation and maintenance

CHARACTERISTICS

  • Characteristic Impedance: 120Ω ±20%, fully matching the electrical requirements of TIA/EIA-485 standard
  • Temperature Rating:
    • Conductor continuous operating: -40℃~90℃ (XLPE insulated type); -20℃~70℃ (PVC insulated type)
    • Short-circuit: 160℃ (max 5 seconds for XLPE insulated type)
  • Transmission Performance: Supports transmission rate up to 10Mbps (12m short distance) / 100kbps (1200m long distance), with low attenuation and low signal reflection
  • Anti-interference Performance: Shielded structure provides excellent resistance to electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI), ensuring stable data transmission in strong electric interference industrial environments
  • Mechanical Strength: Excellent bending and tensile resistance, minimum bending radius ≥10× cable outer diameter (fixed installation); ≥15× cable outer diameter (flexible installation)
  • Environmental Resistance: Customizable sheath provides resistance to oil, corrosion, UV, abrasion and weathering, adapting to harsh industrial, outdoor and underground scenarios
  • Flexibility: Available in solid conductor (for fixed wiring) and stranded flexible conductor (for mobile and drag chain applications)
