Media tensión (VM) Submarine Power/Optical Composite Cable

APPLICATION

MV Submarine Power/Optical Composite Cables are designed for medium-voltage power transmission and simultaneous optical communication in offshore and subsea environments. They are widely used in:
  • Offshore wind farm internal grid connection and communication
  • Inter-island power and data transmission
  • Coastal industrial facilities and offshore platform power supply
  • Subsea renewable energy projects (solar, tidal)
  • Short-to-medium distance subsea power and communication integration
These cables can be directly buried in seabed trenches, installed in submarine cable routes, or deployed in dynamic offshore applications, with excellent resistance to seawater corrosion, presión hidrostática, and mechanical stress.

CONSTRUCTION

  • Conductor: Water-blocking Copper (Cu, Clase 2/5 stranded)
  • Conductor Screen: Semi-conductive extruded layer
  • Insulation: Cross-linked Polyethylene (XLPE)
  • Insulation Screen: Semi-conductive extruded layer
  • Water-blocking Layer: Semi-conductive water-blocking tape (SWR-T)
  • Optical Fiber Unit: Single-mode optical fibers (SMF, G.652D/G.655) integrated within the cable core
  • Filler: Water-blocking filler compound
  • Inner Lining: Extruded polymer layer
  • Lead Sheath (LS): Continuous lead alloy sheath for primary water and gas barrier
  • Semi-conductive PE Sheath: Extruded semi-conductive polyethylene layer
  • Armour: Single Wire Armour (SWA, steel or aluminum alloy)
  • Outer Sheath: High-density Polyethylene (HDPE) for marine environment protection
  • Core: Single-Core, Three-Core+OF

CHARACTERISTICS

  • Voltage Rating: 8.7/15(17.5) kV, 12/20(24) kV, 18/30(36) kV (customizable up to 36 kV)
  • Clasificación de temperatura:
    • Conductor operating: 90°C (continuous)
    • Short-circuit: 250°C (max 5 seconds)
  • Water Resistance: Full longitudinal and radial water-blocking design
  • Mechanical Strength: Suitable for installation up to 1500m water depth
  • Corrosion Resistance: HDPE outer sheath resistant to seawater, marine organisms, and chemical attack
  • Optical Performance: Low attenuation, high bandwidth for long-haul communication
  • Flexibility: Minimum bending radius ≥ 12–15 × cable outer diameter (depending on armour type)
